A web notification is a pop-up that appears within your web browser to notify you about what’s happening on Twitter when you’re on twitter.com and logged in to your account. If you’re using Chrome or Firefox you can also turn on browser notifications, which enables you to receive notifications as they happen, regardless of whether you’re on twitter.com.

You can get notifications for things like Direct Messages, follows, likes, replies to your Tweets, mentions, and Retweets of your Tweets.

From a web notification, you can then reply to a Tweet or Direct Message, Retweet or like a Tweet, or follow someone back.

  1. Log in to twitter.com.
  2. Click on the profile icon and select Settings from the drop down menu.
  3. Click on Web notifications from the settings sidebar.
  4. Check or uncheck the boxes for the notifications you wish to receive, or change the drop-down selections to see notifications Tailored for you (based on who you follow) or By anyone.
  5. Click Save changes.
  1. Log in to twitter.com using the Chrome or Firefox browser.
  2. Click on the profile icon and select Settings from the drop down menu.
  3. Click on Web notifications from the settings sidebar.
